OHS Goaltending
PROGRAM (AGES 7-16)
- Program developed by former professional and head OHS goaltending coach Randy Jaycock.
- 4 yrs W.H.L with Billings and Medicine Hat.
- 11 yrs pro with Calgary Flames, Dallas Stars, and St. Louis Blues organizations.
The OHS goaltending program offers a unique blend of high intensity, progressive, on-ice goalie specific training for athletes of all levels and abilities. Our program is designed to address all aspects of the goaltenders game including technical, physical, tactical and mental training, as well as a cutting edge approach to teaching revolutionary new techniques. Some of the features of our school include:
Instructors – All instructors are fully qualified and trained on up to date methods and techniques to work with all levels of goaltenders from “beginners to elite”. Student to instructor ratio 3-1 maximum)
On-Ice Training – All students receive two daily on-ice sessions Monday to Friday with one goalie specific power skating session Sunday and one competitive game on Saturday. They are at all times on the ice with qualified goalie instructors with time for goalie specifics training each day as well as having a full compliment of players to give them game situations to enhance and practice their skills.
Goalie Specific Training Clinic – All students also receive Monday to Friday one daily goalie specific training clinic. These sessions focus on all aspects of goaltending including basic fundamentals, shot preparation, save techniques, crease movements, lateral mobility, game situations and tactics, rebound control etc. (different themes everyday, 8-10 stations, with use of equipment such as puck machines, deflection and screen boards, and video)
Off-Ice Goalie Skills Centre – Each day(Monday to Friday) all students attend our off-ice goalie skills centre to work on save techniques, agility and balance training, movement exercises, core and physical conditioning, stretching and eye tracking drills. (equipment used includes tennis ball machines, slide boards, agility ladders, extreme balance boards, bosu balls, reaction balls)
Goalie Lectures – All students attend one goalie specific lecture daily. This includes interactive power point presentations on different themes such as proper technical analysis, rebound control, game situations, mental training and preparation as well as video analysis of the student’s daily goalie specific training sessions.

(1) On-Ice Training Session with goalie specific time and practice.
(2) Goalie Dryland and Plyometrics Training.
(3) Off-Ice Goalie Skills Centre.
(4) On-Ice Goalie Specific Training Clinic.
(5) Goalie Lecture.
(6) On-Ice Training Session with goalie specific time and practice.
