Defenseman Camp

The Okanagan Hockey School is pleased to announce the addition of a defenseman camp. The emphasis on program specific instruction is becoming vital to the success of hockey players at all levels. The focus of this program is to provide defenseman and forwards alike with an all-around exposure to the tools necessary to advance their hockey career. With cutting edge teaching techniques and a professional understanding of the position, your OHS experience will be second to none.

 

PROGRAM DIRECTORS

Blake Wesley

Blake Wesley spent 10 years in the NHL as a defenseman with the Philadelphia Flyers, Hartford Whalers, Quebec Nordiques, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Blake was an assistant coach with the Portland Winter Hawks and Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League before joining the Okanagan Hockey School. A high performance certified coach, Blake is a mentor to young defenseman on a year-round basis. Working in conjunction with Robert Dirk, Blake has put together a comprehensive program that will benefit defensemen and forwards of all ages.

 

Robert Dirk

Robert Dirk is a 9-year veteran of the National Hockey League, as well as a 10-year professional coach in the UHL, WCHL, and ECHL. Robert spent his NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Anaheim Ducks. Robert's coaching philosophy is "Development of players is achieved through development of people off the ice". Known for being a hard-working defenseman, Robert has been instrumental in the implementation of the OHS Defenseman Camp.

  • 2.5 hours of daily instruction
  • Program runs Monday - Friday with Registration on Sunday

    • Stick Position
    • Net Position
  • Off Ice daily position specific lectures
  • Intensive daily dryland focusing on:
    • Core Strength
    • Balance
    • Cardio Conditioning
