The Okanagan Hockey Academy’s Female Midget team has made headlines once again. The burgeoning program is proud to announce that power forward, Hannah Miller and offensive defenseman, Alexa Ranahan, have been chosen as part of the final round of selections for the Women’s U18’ Program.

Hockey Canada announced Tuesday the 40 players who have been invited to Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team selection camp, taking place Aug. 2-14 at the WinSport Canada Athletic & Ice Complex in Calgary.

The 40 players will be split into two teams, Red and White, and will participate in several practices and games, including games against national teams from Kazakhstan and Norway. It will be held in conjunction with Canada’s National Women’s Under-22/Development Team selection camp, which will split another 40 players into two teams, Blue and Yellow, for practices and intersquad games

“We are extremely proud to have both Hannah and Alexa attending the final selection camp for U-18 World’s, said Head Coach Rebecca Russell. “These camps are an experience of a life time and both girls disserve it. They have worked very hard to get to this point and OHA is lucky and proud to have them represent us at the National Team Level.”

Ontario – 18 (Accursi, Bunton, Capizzano, Doering, Gillham, Grant, Jacobson, Korbs, Lloyd, Martindale, Masters, McKibbon, Moore, Noronha, Nurse, Sauvé, Steele, Veerman)
Alberta – six (Baumgardt, Chemago, Heffernan, Murray, Smith, Sutherland)
British Columbia – six (Logan, Fieseler, Newell, Keca, Miller, Ranahan)
Québec – four (Bannon, Daoust, Dubois, Ziadie)
Manitoba – three (Brykaliuk, Carels, Krzyzaniuk)
Saskatchewan – two (Clark, Ottenbreit-Daunheimer)
Nova Scotia – one (Lanceleve)
