Junior/College Prep Camp
Head Instructor – Alan Kerr

Alan Kerr is the Vice President of both Okanagan Hockey School and Okanagan Hockey Academy.

Philosophy

The game of hockey has become a speed and skill game that requires specialized training both on and off the ice. I have assembled drills from coaches and players from several different countries to allow for maximum development in these areas. Summer is an opportunity to develop ahead of other players that will be competing for the same teams and positions. The world has become global and hockey is no exception. As a player I was better in the fall than when I finished in the spring. The program is about becoming a better more complete hockey player. Position specific instruction is included.

As a player

Alan played Junior B for the Grand Forks Border Bruins of the KIJHL, Junior A for the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL and Major Junior for the Seattle Thunder Birds of the WHL. Alan was a first all-star in his last 2 seasons with Seattle and was voted the most improved player of his team each of his five years of the junior hockey he played.

Alan was drafted in the 4th round by the New York Islanders and played 7 years for the New York Islanders, 1 year with the Detroit Redwings and 1 year with the Winnipeg Jets.
Alan’s best season in the NHL included 24 goals, 34 assists, 58 points, 198 penalty minutes and was a plus 30 rating.

As a coach

Alan has been both an assistant and head coach with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL. Alan is currently the head coach of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. The Junior Prep Camp Program
